Amanda Nicole Van Buskirk is a doctoral student in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. She obtained a master’s degree in Ecology from The Pennsylvania State University and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics from Monmouth University. Amanda’s career goal is to become a woman leader in wildlife management and conservation. To achieve her career goal, Amanda collaborates daily with personnel from state wildlife agencies, the U.S. Geological Survey, University of Georgia, and other public stakeholders to conduct research for her doctoral dissertation. Her doctoral research involves evaluating decision making components, such as biological population models and stakeholder preference models, to improve white-tailed deer management processes in Georgia. Amanda’s related skills include interpersonal and interagency communication, technical report writing, data analysis, written and oral communication, and partnership building. Amanda’s passion for wildlife management and conservation guides her future career in natural resource decision science.
