Serina Morales began life at a disadvantage. As a Puerto Rican woman, in New York City's poorest and most critically underserved borough the Bronx, socio-economic factors were set against her. Though she was not expected to finish high school, let alone college, she's persisted on through community college, soon after rewarded with a scholarship to attend one of the top universities in the nation. After she graduated with honors from New York University, with a degree in English, specialization in creative writing, and minor in Animal Studies, she now strives for a career in public service. With her unique experiences, Morales strives to give back to her community; she hopes that her story will become a normalized tale for Bronx youth. She continues to work hard every day to serve as the face of Bronx promise.
