MEET OUR INTERNS



Ashley Oelsen

After earning her degree in International Business and History at the University of Southern California, Ashley was responsible for corporate LEED sustainability for Northrop Grumman Facilities before transitioning to the non-profit sector. Soon after enrolling in a Graduate Program, she began her fieldwork in Tanzania, studying chimpanzee behavior and illegal forest activity. In 2018, Ashley continued her research, focusing on orangutan conservation in Borneo. Ashley sits on the Board of Directors for World Education Connection and is an environmental policy consultant for corporations with sustainability initiatives. In 2019, Ashley was awarded the Earth & Environmental Science Research Grant from UPenn. Last summer, he accepted a Federal Policy Fellowship at International Fund for Animal Welfare, working on Capitol Hill with Congressional staff on environmental legislation. Currently, Ashley attends the University of Pennsylvania, earning a master’s degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation, a certificate in Animal Behavior from Penn Veterinary School of Medicine, and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
