Category: News Releases

Hispanic Access is honored to announce its partnership with Columbia Sportswear, who has provided the organization with in-kind support for the MANO Project program interns and alumni. The in-kind partnership with the MANO Project hopes to remove barriers for interns to participation in fieldwork, fosters diverse voices and perspectives in conservation efforts, and empowers the next generation of environmental stewards.

The MANO Project program connects, builds, and develops young leaders of color who share a passion for serving and strengthening their communities. Since its inception, the MANO Project has placed more than 800 interns and fellows into paid professional development and training opportunities with federal agencies, such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and the U.S. Forest Service

“Our work is about the next generation of leaders and providing them extensive training, mentoring and professional development to ensure they have the tools and knowledge needed to excel in their fellowship and a career with the federal workforce,” said Nina Marti, Director of the MANO Project program. “With Columbia Sportswear's contributions, we can equip these aspiring environmentalists with the gear they need for their internships in rugged and challenging environments. Together, we can help ensure their comfort, safety, and ability to focus on their vital work in protecting and preserving our planet’s natural wonders.”

Hispanic Access Foundation connects Latinos and others with partners and opportunities to improve lives and create an equitable society. The goal is that one day, every Latino in America will enjoy good physical health and a healthy natural environment, a high-quality education, economic success and civic engagement in their community with the goal of improving the future of America.

“We are happy to be partnering with Hispanic Access in support of their MANO project to nurture diverse talent and provide them with gear needed to thrive in new outdoor career opportunities,” said Abel Navarrete, Vice President of Sustainability and Community Impact at Columbia Sportswear Company. “Columbia is committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcome in the outdoors and a crucial component in that mission is working to increase diversity in our industry.
